We've Reached our Goal!

Thank you VERY much to everyone that was generous enough to donate money for Ace's cause. We have reached our $3,000 goal and have been able to pay off the rest of our bill at AVS for Ace's surgery. Any further donations received will go towards Ace's recovery, a possible surgery on his other broken leg, or to the MANY other needy animals that A New Beginning rescues every day. Ace, A New Beginning, and myself are very thankful and appreciative for all the support you all have shown this wonderful little dog.

Please continue to spread the word about A New Beginning Pet Care and Rescue, Inc. and what we do. We are ALWAYS in need of foster homes, dog and cat supplies, cleaning supplies, and especially monetary donations. Please visit our website at http://www.anewbeginning.petfinder.com/ to learn more about the organization and how your donations are making a positive impact.

I will still continue to update the blog on Ace's progress. So far he is doing really well with his recovery. His leg is in quite a bit of pain, but the pain medicine is really helping. Ace is just enjoying snuggling and relaxing at home with his temporary family.

Ace is Back at Home!

Ace made it through surgery well yesterday and is back home with me and his foster friends. It was so sad when I went to pick him up. He had lots of tears running from his eyes and was shaking like a leaf. Once I got him in the car and he realized that he was back with me, he stopped shaking and just kept rubbing on me to pet him.

Ace has to be on 3 different medicines for a little while and get bandage changes every 5-7 days. He will have rechecks at 4 weeks and 8 weeks that will cost $250 each. Ace should also be going through physical therapy, so hopefully if we raise enough money he can get the physical therapy he needs to recover sooner. He has a long road ahead of him, but has a loving home to recover in.

Once his leg starts to heal more, we will find out if he needs surgery on his other leg as well. The pictures here are of Ace enjoying being home and getting a nice rub down!

The blue bandage is the leg he had surgery on. It required the removal of a small piece of bone, a slight rotation, a bone graph from his shoulder, a metal plate, and 5 screws! Poor Ace had to go through quite a bit! The green bandage is the leg that had 2 fractures that healed on their own but with a bad deformity that may require surgery so he can walk without pain or discomfort. Oh, and to add to it all, Ace was also neutered at the same time thanks to the wonderful doctors!

Ace WILL Get His Leg Fixed Tomorrow!

Thanks to a lot of wonderful supporters, Ace has raised enough money to put down a deposit at the vet. They will be doing his surgery tomorrow morning. However, we will still owe the vet quite a bit more money. So please keep spreading the word. Ace is very thankful for everyone that has rushed to his aid. THANK YOU!!

Pictures of Ace

Ace enjoying the day at my Mom's house (she is also known as Mimi by my dogs and her Grandson)!

This is Ace passed out on the couch with his sweater on. I had to keep him warm during the 2 week cold spell we had here in Florida.

And lastly, Ace passed out in my bed; where he sleeps EVERY night! He is very spoiled at my house. Ace is still a very happy dog, even given the unfortunate situation he has had to endure.

About Ace's Blog

Hi Everyone! I am Ace's foster mom, Dayna. I volunteer with A New Beginning Pet Care and Rescue, Inc. I have had Ace at my house for a few weeks now, and he is a wonderful, sweet, loving dog.

At this point, Ace needs surgery on his right, front leg that will involve a bone graph, a plate, and screws. This surgery will cost around $3,000, including a couple of recheck visits. Ace may also need corrective surgery on his left front leg in the near future. That leg was fractured in 2 places and has healed with a deformity that is causing him some trouble walking. I have sent out the flyer shown here and have received a lot of feedback and several donations so far.

Any money raised over the $3,000 will go towards surgery on Ace's other leg or towards the many other dogs A New Beginning rescues that are also in need of costly medical attention. We thank you all very much for your support, and this blog will be updated regularly to let you all know how Ace is progressing and how your donations have helped give him a second chance at a great life.
